Music Teacher

We are seeking an experienced Music Teacher to join our team of educators. This role requires passion and expertise in designing music lessons that accommodate varying learning styles and abilities, including students with autism, physical disabilities, learning difficulties, or emotional/behavioural challenges.

Job Description:

  • Design and implement music lessons tailored to individual student needs, incorporating adaptive techniques and assistive technologies.
  • Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other specialists to integrate therapeutic goals into musical activities.
  • Assess student progress using tailored benchmarks; maintain accurate records and contribute to IEPs (Individualised Education Programs).
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and encouraging classroom environment; manage behaviour sensitively in line with the school's positive behaviour support policies.
  • Organise performances, music therapy sessions, and school-wide musical events to showcase students' abilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Carnatic/Hindustani Music or equivalent qualification.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with children in a mainstream school or special school.
  • Teaching qualification or experience in special education is preferred.
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and adaptive music education is essential.
  • Ability to play an instrument and facilitate group music singing.
  • Must know Light songs and Bhajans in Tamil.
  • Knowledge of Tamil language is mandatory.
  • Training in music therapy or knowledge of therapeutic music practices is desirable.
  • Experience with communication aids is beneficial.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Patience, creativity, and a positive attitude.
