Senior Design Engineer - Cooling Systems

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Mechanical Design Expert with over 6 years of expertise in the design of mechanical solutions for hyperscale data centers.

  • Cooling System Leadership:
  • Design innovative cooling solutions for hyperscale data centers, including chilled water systems, direct expansion (DX) systems, air and liquid cooling technologies, and alternative cooling methods.
  • Optimize cooling infrastructure for data centers to maintain desired temperature and humidity levels, ensuring efficient performance, system reliability, and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Awareness of Industry Standards i.e. ASHRAE, ISHRAE, Carrier Handbooks, IS Standards, Eurovent, AHRI, SMACNA, ASME etc.
  • Select and specify cooling equipment, components, and materials, considering energy efficiency, scalability, and system integration.
  • Buffer tank Calculation & thermal override calculation
  • Co-ordinating with vendors for product selection and integration of equipment's in overall Master design

Responsibilities continued:

  • Preparation of Heat load calculation, Power Usage Effectiveness Calculations (PUE), Technical specifications, schematics for Tendering
  • Preparation of Detailed Design drawings for Tendering purpose
  • Preparation of BOQ, Make List and co-ordinating with Cost Estimation team on cost and work schedule

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide value Engineering inputs towards optimization, reliability, efficient design best practices
  • Use of CFD Tool for validation of proposed design for HVAC system for design sign off
  • Participation in bre-bid meetings and provide resolution to bidder queries

Skill Requirements:

  • Proficiency in cooling system design software (e.g., CFD modelling tools, Trane Trace 700, Carrier HAP, etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of thermal dynamics, HVAC systems, and environmental control technologies.
  • Strong understanding of industry standards and regulations (ASHRAE, IEC, LEED, ISO, etc.).

Requirements Summary:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, Building Services, Energy Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in the design and engineering of cooling systems for large-scale, hyperscale data centers or mission-critical facilities.
  • Extensive experience with a wide range of cooling technologies, including air-cooled and liquid-cooled systems, chillers, CRAC (Computer Room Air Conditioning) units, and precision cooling systems.
