Project Leader - Engineering Design

Purpose and scope of the position

The Project Leader - Engineering Design will be part of a team providing engineering services to various projects. They will support the project manager and engineering leader, supervising working engineers and designers. The successful candidate will provide leadership and assist in resolving technical issues related to their discipline.

Experience Requirements
  • More than 10 years of experience in relevant design disciplines
  • Engineering and package coordination experience
Qualifications
  • Postgraduate or graduate degree in an engineering field
  • Registration as a professional engineer with the governing authority (preferable)
Main Responsibilities
  • Supporting the project manager and engineering leader
  • Preparing engineering work packages in consultation with the engineering leader
  • Assisting in compiling and delivering monthly engineering status reports
  • Participating in and contributing to design reviews
  • Representing the discipline in project engineering coordination meetings
  • Preparing and reviewing project procedures, standard specifications, and design criteria
  • Reviewing and evaluating technical work prepared by junior engineers, intermediate engineers, designers, technicians, and technologists
  • Ensuring relevant technical experts are involved in the design process as required
  • Performing conceptual and detailed engineering design
  • Preparing engineering work (calculations, reports, specifications, evaluations, recommendations, etc.) where required
  • Providing and coordinating training for resources assigned to the project
  • Working to ensure the implementation of safety in design
  • Ensuring measurement of progress on all contracts for reporting and progress claim purposes
  • Responsible for timely availability of discipline data to other disciplines
  • Documenting value additions and best practices and ensuring communication of the same to fellow project engineers and discipline leadership
  • Supporting technology teams and project teams for development and automation works as required
  • Ensuring compliance to all quality and document management processes within the company and as agreed with customers
  • Managing performance data of reportees and providing periodic feedback
  • Providing resource loading forecast to team leaders
  • Keeping records of learnings during the project and providing inputs to project managers during job closure reports
  • Preparing technical specifications, bid evaluations, and technical recommendations where required
  • Interacting with discipline engineers of customers during the entire lifecycle of the project and beyond
