Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and configure all aspects of Kong entities (services, routes, plugins, caching, API management, etc.) to ensure seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Develop custom Lua scripts to extend Kong functionality and achieve complex requirements, driving efficiency and scalability in API solutions.
  • Integrate Kong with existing APIs and backend systems, ensuring smooth data flow and communication, and managing API security through robust authentication (e.g., OAuth, OIDC) and authorization strategies.
  • Implement effective traffic management features like load balancing and caching to optimize performance, and monitor Kong performance through comprehensive metrics, proactively identifying and troubleshooting issues.
  • Automate Kong configurations using DevOps principles and tools (e.g., Git, CI/CD) for streamlined deployment, and develop and maintain clear and informative API documentation using the Kong Developer Portal.
  • Continuously stay updated on the latest Kong features, best practices, and emerging trends, and create, customize, and maintain custom Kong plugins to extend capabilities beyond core functionalities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Kong Developer & Administrator, with a strong understanding of Kong's architecture and functionalities.
  • Solid grasp of API design principles (RESTful APIs, OpenAPI specifications) for building well-structured and efficient APIs.
  • Proven experience in working with web services and microservices architectures, and proficiency in scripting languages like Lua and Python for automating tasks and extending Kong capabilities.
  • Experience with DevOps principles and tools (Git, CI/CD) to maintain a smooth development and deployment pipeline, and excellent problem-solving and debugging skills to identify and resolve API-related issues effectively.
