General Merchandise Category Leader

This role involves driving the General Merchandise category to deliver strong business performance in line with our company's strategic objectives.

The Category Manager will be responsible for developing, managing, and implementing assortment planning, vendor management, pricing, promotions, and category profitability strategies while ensuring an exciting and relevant product mix for customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Category Strategy & Planning:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive category strategy for General Merchandise in line with customer needs, market trends, and company objectives.
    • Plan and execute assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies to maximize sales and profitability.
    • Track and analyze category performance, market share, and competitor activity to inform future decision-making.
  • Buying & Vendor Management:
    • Negotiate and onboard vendors/suppliers for the GM category to ensure reliable supply and innovation in product range.
    • Establish strong partnerships with suppliers to drive mutual growth and improvement.
  • Merchandising & Assortment:
    • Design and manage the product assortment, including core, seasonal, and promotional lines to meet customer demand.
    • Ensure the right product mix is available across stores and channels to drive sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Financial & Business Management:
    • Own and manage the P&L of the General Merchandise category to drive margin improvement and cost efficiency.
    • Monitor and analyze sales, inventory, and stock turnover to optimize stock levels and minimize waste.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with Supply Chain Management (SCM) to plan and execute demand-driven replenishment.
    • Collaborate with Marketing to develop and execute promotional campaigns and product launches.
