Job Description

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and scaling backend services for our global art information platform. Your expertise in Python (FastAPI, Django, or Flask) will be instrumental in delivering high-performance APIs and integrating advanced AI/ML models into production systems.

This position is ideal for someone passionate about backend engineering and excited to bring AI-powered user experiences to life at scale. Experience in recommendation systems is a strong advantage but not a strict requirement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain robust backend services with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Integrate machine learning models into production APIs and pipelines for recommendations and personalization.
  • Collaborate closely with ML engineers and product teams to deliver AI-driven features and ensure seamless integration.
  • Develop low-latency APIs for serving recommendations and intelligent results, leveraging vector databases (Qdrant, Pinecone, Elasticsearch) to power similarity search and embeddings.
  • Deploy, monitor, and scale services in cloud environments (AWS preferred), ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
  • Contribute to system architecture, performance optimization, and design decisions, driving the development of innovative solutions.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of backend architecture and distributed systems, with a proven track record of building and deploying production-ready APIs.
  • Experience integrating ML models or AI services into backend infrastructure, with a focus on scalability and performance.
  • Hands-on expertise with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform), with a focus on deployment, monitoring, and scaling.
  • Database expertise: SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (Redis, Elasticsearch), with a focus on data modeling and query optimization.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in remote team settings, with a focus on effective stakeholder management.
Nice to Have (Bonus Skills)
  • Experience with recommendation systems or personalization pipelines, leveraging techniques such as collaborative filtering and content-based filtering.
  • Familiarity with vector databases and embedding-based search, enabling efficient and accurate similarity searches.
  • Frontend integration knowledge (React, Next.js, GraphQL), allowing for seamless integration with frontend applications.
  • Experience monitoring and optimizing ML-powered production systems (Prometheus, Grafana), ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
