Job Title: Technical Leadership Expert

Job Description:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive Systems Engineering plans, incorporating best practices in requirements management, interface management, systems integration, assurance, verification, and validation.
  • Lead the delivery of Systems Engineering elements of projects, ensuring timely completion, high quality, and budget adherence.
  • Advise teams on adherence to System Engineering processes and train designers from other disciplines on effective application of requirements and technical assurance techniques.
  • Provide Technical Assurance expertise to projects, ensuring safety critical systems meet rigorous standards.
  • Assist in developing system and software models, fostering innovative solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers, supervising and checking their output on projects.
  • Manage requirements, interfaces, assumptions, risks, issues, system architectures, and process development.
  • Undertake consultancy assignments, providing advisory support to clients and contributing to design concept formulation and approaches.
  • Review tender documentation, producing methodologies, deliverables, and program management strategies.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance, leading by example to achieve company goals and championing a quality culture.
  • Communicate with team members to ensure they understand project strategy, briefs, and client requirements.
  • Continuously enhance productivity through improved processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, ensuring all parties are informed on relevant matters impacting projects.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Scope definition; requirements; and interfaces environment.
  • Experience working safely in the railway industry.
  • Requirements management with good working knowledge of requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS, Comply serve).
  • Verification and validation principles and technical assurance activities experience.
  • Issues, risks, and assumptions definition and management.
  • Configuration management and change control.
  • Understanding various sub-elements i.e. RAM, ESM, HF, EMC etc.
  • Lifecycle understanding from concept through to commissioning.
  • Delivering multi-disciplinary projects experience.
  • Leading and working with people from varied backgrounds and cultures experience.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering subject.
  • Working knowledge of the Infrastructure industry (Railway/Highways/Aerospace).
  • Chartered engineer.
  • Demonstrable and good communication skills, with succinctness being a strength, and negotiation skills.
  • Analytical with an inquisitive mind that lends itself to troubleshooting issues.
  • Ability to present technical knowledge to a varied audience.
  • Good understanding of safety critical systems and safety case assurance.
  • Building relationships with colleagues and working cooperatively with others to achieve project goals.
  • Innovative – delivering outcomes efficiently and effectively, not merely designing to the standard.
