Job Opportunity:

  • We are seeking a talented Category Specialist to join our team, responsible for leading and executing Category Management activities to ensure surety of supply and minimize Supply risk.
  • This is a full-time on-site role based in Chennai for a Procurement Data Analyst supporting an overseas Mining Client.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute sourcing activities contributing to the Business/Sites/Local/Project Supply Sourcing Plan.
  2. Commercial ownership of all spends for all areas of Clientele.
  3. Plan and execute portfolio of sourcing projects enabling category strategies and manage on-time delivery minimizing disruption to the business operations.
  4. Execute local category strategies and contract coverage to support Operational Strategies and process automation.
  5. Apply Category Management & Purchasing processes in alignment to design intent, local operating procedures, audit & Group Level obligations.
  6. Develop effective relationships with internal business leaders to understand business requirements, forecast demand, and verify established contracts are effective.
  7. Develop collaborative relationships with suppliers to ensure optimum delivery quality and sustained performance in line with business objectives.
  8. Collect requirements and analyses of key data inputs from multiple sources (internal and external) to build robust category and sourcing strategies mid to long-term.
  9. Validate application of procedures for issuing and evaluating tenders.
  10. Lead commercial negotiations with Suppliers, review contract award recommendations and contracts for approval.
  11. Leads, advises, and mentors cross-functional team members to ensure delivery against performance targets.
  12. Educate vendors on Clientele Supply processes and ensures delivery against budgeted plans.
  13. Support resolution of supplier performance issues and escalations.
  14. Actively promote open two-way communication within the Clientele Supply department and with other stakeholders.
  15. Monitor the portfolio of suppliers supporting the business ensuring optimal usage & performance against business expectations.
  16. Adherence to Clientele Governance Policies.

About You

To be successful, you will need to be self-driven and comfortable being hands-on by demonstrating strong knowledge of Category management by providing actionable insights.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Contract / Category / Buyer roles (Not Purchasing).
  • Strong experience in developing commercial strategies.
  • Leading high-value strategic negotiations and tactical negotiations.
  • Strong understanding on OEMs, Industrial services, Labour, Categories.
  • Global Procurement experience (Mandatory).
  • Advanced Excel Skills (Mandatory).
  • Strong understanding of ERP Systems (SAP / Pronto Preferred).
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and commercial acumen.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
