Senior Packaging Lead – Mold Development

This is an exciting opportunity to spearhead our end-to-end packaging development initiatives. The role combines deep technical expertise in mold development with strategic leadership across packaging projects.

The successful candidate will have the ability to lead and mentor a team of packaging developers and junior engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and career development support.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in primary packaging mold development, project management, and vendor management. They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with overseas suppliers and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development and qualification of primary packaging molds with overseas and domestic vendors.
  • Collaborate with mold makers to ensure high-quality, cost-effective mold design and smooth commissioning.
  • Conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) and trials to optimize mold performance.
  • Approve technical drawings, 3D designs, and conduct feasibility assessments for new packaging concepts.
  • Drive concept-to-commercialization for primary and secondary packaging.
  • Work with R&D, marketing, and procurement teams to ensure packaging meets functional, aesthetic, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure timely scale-up and launch of new products with robust packaging solutions.
  • Champion sustainable packaging initiatives and ensure compliance with global standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with overseas packaging suppliers, mold manufacturers, and contract packers.
  • Conduct vendor audits, negotiate costs, and ensure adherence to timelines and quality.
  • Manage the logistics and import/export coordination for molds and packaging components.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing effective packaging strategies to meet business objectives.
  • Leading and mentoring a team of packaging developers and junior engineers.
  • Providing technical guidance, coaching, and career development support.
  • Ensuring that all packaging designs comply with safety, regulatory, and environmental requirements.
  • Establishing robust testing protocols and quality checkpoints during development and production.

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • Deep technical knowledge of primary packaging mold development.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent vendor management, negotiation, and overseas coordination skills.
  • Experience leading and developing junior team members.
  • Understanding of packaging material science, testing protocols, and sustainability trends.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools, packaging testing methods, and quality management systems.
