Deputy General Manager Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Lead and direct the CFS to ensure efficient operations, management, and financial performance.
  • Ensure optimal utilization of the CFS's potential to increase revenue and profitability.
  • Develop, implement, review, and monitor the corporate strategy and plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage all aspects of the business for profitability and growth.
  • Accountable for the P&L and EBITDA of the Unit.
  • Develop and grow the business through identifying trends and opportunities.
  • Convert high revenue potential customers for optimum use of the CFS facilities.
  • Ensure the physical infrastructure meets the demands of the business and supports growth.
  • Improve service delivery and expand coverage.
  • Hold Business reviews monthly and conduct staff performance reviews.
  • Responsible for statutory, legal, certifications, and compliance of the Unit.
  • Accountable for the Unit Safety Operations.
  • Maintain healthy relationships with Government agencies.
  • Meet agreed profit, revenue, ROCE, and operational targets.
  • Realize Organization KPIs, policies, and procedures.
  • Client development through networking.
  • Analyze CFS performance versus competing CFS.
  • Negotiate and prepare contracts.
  • Observe Labour regulations.
  • Build relationships with external agency heads.
  • Keep track of customer requirements and trade demand.
  • Comply with Health, Safety, Environment, and Supply chain security management systems.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Master's degree with in-depth understanding of CFS operations.
  • 12-15 years of experience, including 3 years at a senior management role.
  • Advance knowledge of shipping and CFS functioning.
  • Good interpersonal skills for effective communication.
  • Experience in Marketing, Business Development, Finance, and Operations of CFS.
  • Strong customer focus and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for influencing at all levels.
  • Able to negotiate transactions.
