Supply Chain Manager Role

The end-to-end supply chain operations for a manufacturing facility are managed by the Supply Chain Manager. This involves overseeing production planning and control, plant sourcing, warehousing, logistics, and scrap management.

The position ensures efficient and cost-effective manufacturing operations by planning, procuring, producing, inventorying, and shipping products.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Production Planning & Scheduling
    • Coordinate material availability with the production plan to prevent downtime.
    • Collaborate with production, sales, and central planning teams for demand forecasting and capacity planning.
    • Monitor daily and weekly production plans and adjust schedules to meet customer delivery commitments.
  • Procurement & Supplier Coordination
    • Evaluate suppliers based on quality, cost, and service criteria.
    • Negotiate prices, delivery terms, and payment conditions with vendors.
    • Ensure timely procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, and consumables.
  • Inventory Management
    • Maintain optimal levels of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
    • Monitor stock ageing, non-moving inventory, and initiate disposal or consumption plans.
    • Perform regular physical stock audits and reconcile with system records.
  • Warehousing & Logistics
    • Oversee inbound and outbound logistics to ensure On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) deliveries.
    • Manage warehouse operations, space utilization, and storage safety.
    • Ensure proper documentation, dispatch scheduling, and coordination with transporters.
  • Cost & Process Optimization
    • Analyze opportunities to reduce logistics, inventory carrying, and procurement costs.
    • Drive process improvements using lean methodologies.
    • Track and improve key supply chain metrics like inventory turnover, delivery accuracy, and material yield.
  • Compliance & Safety
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, EHS norms, and statutory regulations.
    • Conduct regular training and audits to uphold safety and operational standards.
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing supply chain team.
    • Define roles, responsibilities, and development plans for the team.
    • Foster collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement mindset.
