Job Overview

The Procurement Manager will oversee the entire procurement process, from defining strategy to executing purchasing activities.

This includes managing project and engineering items related procurement, reviewing requests for proposals (RFxs) and managing procurement cycle in tandem with the technical department, reviewing and negotiating contracts, terms and deadlines with vendors and suppliers, evaluating bids and making recommendations based on technical and commercial factors, coordinating with vendors and expediting items per engineering department's needs, defining procurement strategy, developing new suppliers and evaluating existing vendors to meet company goals, training new employees and supporting team members as necessary, managing inventory, preparing cost estimates and managing budgets, acting as a point of contact between the company and suppliers, collecting and analyzing data to ensure the company is making the best decisions, managing daily purchasing activities, supervising staff, and allocating tasks, maintaining the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation, ensuring that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications, and regularly reporting to the project team and management on procurement timeframes and spends.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering
  • Addiitional certification/degree related to Purchasing, Material Management or Supply Chain Management desirable
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in Engineering Procurement
  • Experience in Chemical Industry desirable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP-MM module
  • Deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management
  • Supervisory and management experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Able to travel to meet with suppliers and work overtime as required
