Steel and Metal Designer Role

The primary objective of this position is to design innovative furniture pieces utilizing steel, aluminum, and other metals.

This role requires close collaboration with product development, engineering, and production teams to create furniture concepts that strike a balance between aesthetics and structural integrity.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Designing unique steel furniture products such as tables, chairs, shelves, and storage units.
  • Creating 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using software like AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Collaborating with the manufacturing team to ensure designs are practical for production.
  • Performing structural analysis of steel furniture for durability and stability.
  • Selecting materials and finishes based on aesthetic, functional, and cost considerations.
  • Conducting research on furniture design trends and material innovation.
  • Developing prototypes for testing and modifying designs based on feedback.
  • Coordinating with suppliers for sourcing materials and components.
  • Ensuring designs meet safety standards, environmental regulations, and company specifications.
  • Assisting in developing cost estimates for production, assembly, and materials.
  • Working with the marketing team to understand customer needs and incorporate feedback into designs.
  • Preparing technical documentation and design presentations for stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Design Engineer in the steel furniture industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Strong knowledge of material properties, particularly steel and other metals.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes for steel furniture (welding, cutting, bending, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
