Electrical Maintenance Team Lead Job Description

Job Purpose:

Directs and coordinates all electrical maintenance activities in the plant, including participating in planned maintenance programs and providing recommendations to enhance maintainability and minimize costs.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Maintains Equipment Effectiveness:
  • Prepares and implements detailed maintenance procedures ensuring safe activities execution.
  • Timely implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Maintains electronic and hard copy records for equipment and conducts regular surveys by subordinates.
  • Monitors performance and maintenance cost for various mechanical equipment.
  • Provides recommendations to alleviate operations anomalies and minimize maintenance cost.
  • Liaises with other departments to coordinate work activities or arrange plant shutdowns.

Stores Management

  • Reviews requirements for new equipment or major repairs, evaluates use of existing proposals, and raises recommendations.
  • Ensures no material shortage and delivered materials meet required standards.
  • Optimizes consumables consumption as per annual business plan.

5S & Safety

  • Daily 5S activities on the shop floor.
  • Use of PPEs and safety equipment by employees working inside the plant premises.
  • Provides PEP talks / TBT before operational / Maintenance activities.

Innovation, Automation & Continuous Improvement

  • Drives continuous improvement projects for improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Performs QC tool-based analysis on quality related issues and suggests changes.
  • Drives continuous improvement projects in the department and motivates team members.
  • 100% compliance and proper documentation as per IMS standards.

People Management

  • Timely completion of department performance review process.
  • Timely completion of skill assessment process and improves individual skill index.
  • Maximum participation of team members in employee engagement activities.

Skills & Knowledge

  1. Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Engineering – Electrical, Instrumentation.
  2. Years of Experience: 15-20 years in Cold Rolling Mill Electrical Maintenance department.
