Job Title:

Design Engineer

Description:

The Design Engineer will work within the Engineering team to deliver projects throughout the product lifecycle.

The successful candidate will apply design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/ DFA) principles to meet product requirements.

Responsibilities include preparing design documentation for production, including component design, drawings, assembly drawings and instructions, and bill of materials (BOMs).

The Design Engineer will also perform design failure mode and effect analysis (DFMEA) for new development projects and current products.

Additionally, the role involves contributing to and leading design reviews, setting standards within the business for best engineering practices, and communicating ideas to other engineers and across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver projects throughout the product lifecycle from concept to production.
  • Apply DFM/DFA principles to meet product requirements.
  • Prepare design documentation for production.
  • Perform DFMEA for new development projects and current products.
  • Contribute to and lead design reviews.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools, such as Solid Works, and product data management (PDM) vault experience.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems and ECO/ECN processes.
  • Hands-on experience in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and stack-up analysis.
  • Basic understanding of cable harnesses and simulation.
  • Sound knowledge of manufacturing methods and material selection.
  • Exposure to electrical components.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Basic understanding of thermal and structural analysis.
  • Basic understanding of electric modules/schematics.
  • Hands-on experience in Ansys software.
