Programme Leadership Opportunity

The Programme Director will play a critical role in driving the organisation's programme portfolio forward. The successful candidate will focus on developing impactful initiatives, with emphasis on effective planning, cross-sectoral integration, and outcome-oriented delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Programme Development: Support the development of long-term strategies and annual plans for programme themes, identifying opportunities for collaboration and innovation to strengthen impact.
  • Programme Management: Oversee select programme areas to ensure timely, high-quality delivery in line with agreed goals, providing guidance to project teams to strengthen operational efficiency and responsiveness.
  • Partnership Building: Engage with implementing agencies, knowledge partners, and peer organisations to strengthen programme outcomes, representing the organisation externally as required.
  • Team Development & Support: Provide mentoring support to mid-level team members to help them grow into leadership roles, encouraging a collaborative culture that values learning and accountability.
  • Performance Monitoring & Evaluation: Ensure effective systems for tracking progress, capturing lessons, and adapting strategies, supporting the preparation of reports, presentations, and knowledge products.
  • Financial Oversight & Compliance: Contribute inputs to budget planning and monitor utilisation in assigned programme areas, ensuring adherence to internal processes and compliance frameworks.
Qualifications, Experience & Competencies:
  • Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in social sciences, development studies, public policy, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 12-15 years of relevant experience in programme design, management, or evaluation within the development sector, including experience in leadership roles.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Ability to develop and manage multi-stakeholder partnerships.
    • Excellent communication and analytical abilities.
    • Demonstrated capacity to think strategically and translate plans into results.
    • Ability to work effectively in diverse cultural and social contexts.
