Role Overview

This is a strategic leadership position in menswear buying at a leading apparel retailer. As the team lead, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective buying plans to optimize procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute strategic buying plans to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing buying team to ensure timely acquisition of goods and services.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms and pricing.
  • Monitor market trends and supplier performance to make informed buying decisions.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to align buying activities with organizational objectives.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives and drive efficiency in the buying process.
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities and maintain relationships to support long-term partnerships.
Requirements:
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in apparel buying and product management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field from a reputable institution.
  • Professional certification in Procurement or Supply Chain (e.g., CSCP, CPSM).
  • Strong negotiation skills and proven experience in vendor management.
  • Excellent analytical abilities and decision-making capabilities.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills to manage a buying team successfully.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sourcing strategies and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools for data analysis and reporting.

The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of the menswear industry and be able to develop effective relationships with suppliers.

Mastery of key principles in supply chain management, product development, and inventory control is also essential for success in this role.
