Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned product designer with expertise in low voltage switchgear products. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cost-out Projects: Design and develop cost-effective solutions for low voltage switchgear products, including contactors, switch disconnectors, motor protection circuit breakers, and push buttons.
  • Global Collaboration: Work closely with global stakeholders to execute projects from idea generation to implementation.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all designed products comply with global design standards such as IEC, UL, CSA, NEMA, or any other relevant compliance standard.
  • System Sizing and Simulation: Conduct system sizing, designing, simulation, and testing activities to meet low voltage switchgear requirements.
  • Product Modification: Modify existing products to support customer, manufacturing, regulatory, and industry requirements through change management processes.
  • Technical Expertise: Possess experience in current path design, mechanism design, arc quenching principles, plastic material knowledge, GD&T principles, clearance & creepage calculations, and different manufacturing processes.
  • Low Voltage Switchgear Standards: Have knowledge of low voltage switchgear standards in accordance with IEC/UL/CSA/CCC codes, enabling the development of test plans.
  • Test Execution: Execute tests for EN60947 / UL Temperature rise, Short circuit, Make/Break, sequence tests, etc.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Assess test results, perform root cause analysis through test findings/failures, and take corrective/preventive actions.
  • Design Engineering Analysis: Conduct design engineering analysis on current path, mechanism, spring, bimetals, housing, actuator circuit, arc chamber, coils, etc.
  • Reliability Predictions: Review reliability predictions, possess knowledge of Design Failure Modes and Effects analysis (DFMEA), and interpret structural/thermal/CFD/MBD results.
  • Design Tools: Complete designs using 2D drawings / 3D Models in UG-NX or Solid works.
  • PLM Systems: Knowledge of PLM systems (Enovia, SAP) is desirable.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • 6-9 years of experience in product design.
Skills
  • Cost-out projects for Low Voltage Switchgear products: Contactor/Switch Disconnector/Motor Protection Circuit Breaker/Push buttons.
  • Experience in switchgear industry having worked on NTI/NPI/Sustaining projects for Contactor, Switch Disconnector, Motor Protection Circuit Breaker or similar products. Experience in VAVE projects is an advantage.
  • Team player with good communication skills, ability to work in global and virtual environment.
