Job Description

As a Senior Director of Product Design, you will lead the design team and drive the design strategy for our products. You will build and lead a team of talented product designers, setting a vision for user experience across our products.

You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and data scientists to ensure designs meet user needs and push the boundaries of what is possible with AI. Your role will be key in translating complex capabilities and solutions into clear, compelling, and valuable experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Strategy: Define and drive the holistic design vision for our products, ensuring a consistent, high-quality user experience across internal and external applications.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of product designers, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Customer-Facing Influence: Engage in early client and presales discussions to shape design strategy, translating needs into actionable insights.
  • Design Ops: Establish and streamline design operations to improve scale, consistency, collaboration, efficiency, and quality across teams.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional leaders in product management, engineering, and data science to align on product strategy, goals, and roadmaps.
  • User Advocacy: Advocate for the user through research, testing, and feedback, ensuring design decisions are informed by a deep understanding of user needs and behaviors.
  • Design Systems: Maintain and establish a centralized design system with standards, patterns, and best practices for designing with AI.
  • Evangelism: Present design strategies and concepts to senior leadership and stakeholders, articulating the rationale behind design decisions.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, HCI, or a related field, or equivalent.

Skills:

  • 12+ years of experience in product design within a technology or product-centric company.
  • Proven experience leading a team of designers who design and ship AI-powered products or features.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional design skills, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of user-centered design principles.
  • Expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, with a track record of using data to inform design decisions.
  • Excellent relationship management skills working in a technical environment with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex design concepts and strategies to various audiences.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment.
