Demurrage Claims Specialist
The primary function of this role is to manage demurrage claims, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims documents to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Claim Handling:
- Manage demurrage and post-fixture claims with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Collaborate closely with client teams, vessels, and agents to gather necessary information and resolve claim-related issues.
- Ensure thorough understanding of contract clauses and evaluate claims based on the same.
- Provide analytical insights to support informed decision-making.
- Monitor time-bars and voyage completions to ensure timely submissions.
- Negotiate effectively with counterparties to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Track outstanding claims and follow up as needed.
- Claim Documentation:
- Collect port documents from clients, vessels, and agents, review them for completeness, and procure any missing documents required for claim filing.
- Organize and store documents according to established requirements.
- Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and timely records, including data entry and tracking of claim progress.
Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is essential. A sailing background is desirable but not mandatory.
Experience & Skills:
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in handling claims, preferably in the product tanker industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for effective collaboration and negotiation.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a focus on process improvement are vital for success in this role.
