Job Description:

This position oversees the project management office (PMO) at a leading financial solutions provider.

The PMO manager is responsible for managing the project portfolio governance, enforcing project management frameworks, and ensuring successful execution of all projects.

In addition to owning the PMO program and driving continuous improvements, this role plays a hands-on project management role for critical IT initiatives and leads a team of project managers and coordinators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for portfolio processes, including planning, governance, methodology framework, and resource capacity management.
  • Ensure project management standards and practices are implemented across the project portfolio.
  • Supervise and mentor the project management team, including performance reviews, career growth, and training.
  • Create staffing plans for internal and external resources.
  • Analyse project proposals to determine timelines, funding, and required processes.
  • Provide leadership and motivation to project teams through all phases.
  • Implement effective communication, steering committee meetings, and status reports.
  • Manage project risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Align project goals with business objectives and manage delivery on time and within budget.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum 7+ years' experience in complex IT project management.
  • Deep understanding of agile frameworks, Scrum, SAFe, Disciplined Agile, etc.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Background in Business Analysis.
  • Proven experience managing a project portfolio or PMO.
  • Prior team leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
