Job Title: PDF Accessibility Analyst

This is a full-time hybrid role for an experienced professional at a leading organization. The role is located in Madurai South, with some work from home acceptable.

The main responsibility of this position is to ensure that digital content is accessible and meets regulatory compliance. Day-to-day tasks include converting documents to accessible formats, conducting accessibility audits, maintaining project documentation, and collaborating with various teams to ensure high-quality deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Convert print or digital content into structured XML and ePub formats for digital publishing.
  • Ensure content is compliant with industry standards such as EPUB 3.0, DAISY, HTML5, and accessibility guidelines (WCAG, Section 508).
  • Validate XML/ePub files using tools like EPUBCheck, XML Schema, DTDs, and Schematron.
  • Collaborate with content developers, designers, and QA teams to maintain quality and consistency.
  • Debug and fix formatting, layout, and structural issues in XML or ePub files.
  • Develop or maintain XSLT scripts for transforming content between formats (e.g., XML to HTML/ePub).
  • Handle metadata tagging (ONIX, Dublin Core) for ebooks and digital content.
  • Test digital products across multiple devices (eReaders, tablets, mobile, desktop) and platforms (Kindle, Apple Books, etc.).
  • Maintain documentation for workflows, standards, and best practices.
  • Stay updated with new developments in digital publishing standards and tools.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Experience in PDF conversion and accessibility.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards such as WCAG, Section 508, and ADA.
  • Familiarity with accessibility tools like JAWS, NVDA, or VoiceOver is a plus.
  • Attention to Detail and Strong Analytical Skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a hybrid work environment.
