High Performance HVAC Design Expert

We are seeking a skilled HVAC design expert to lead our engineering team. As a key member, you will be responsible for designing and implementing high-performance HVAC systems for various projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with expertise in HVAC system design, calculations, and budgeting. You will work closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of HVAC systems into building designs.

In this role, you will:

• Develop and implement effective HVAC design strategies for complex projects
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget
• Prepare detailed technical specifications and estimates for HVAC systems
• Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with project requirements
• Maintain accurate records of design materials, drawings, and shop data

Key Responsibilities:

• ASHRAE/ISHRAE standards knowledge is required for designing HVAC systems for various projects

• Sole responsibility for HVAC design of the project

• Calculate Heating and Cooling Needs

• Design HVAC Systems

• Propose new products, technology, and design improvements with feasibility studies

• Evaluate techno-commercial options and provide recommendations

• Propose energy-saving and environment-friendly design and products

• Calculate Ventilation Requirements

• Determine budgetary costs for heating and cooling systems and prepare detailed budget estimates

• Coordinate and collaborate with architects and other discipline engineers when designing heating and cooling systems

• Study and understand architectural and structural drawings

• Provide detailed input to junior engineers and drafting engineers for preparing quality drawings

• Monitor drawing progress and quality in Revit and CAD until the GFC stage

• Prepare a list of requirements or discrepancies in architectural or structural drawings and inform architects within two working days

• Develop concept designs based on final architectural drawings

• Prepare documents for sanction purposes as per codes and local norms

• Attend design review meetings

• Obtain sign-off on concept designs before proceeding to detail design

• Prepare a design brief report

• Detail design as per approved concept and scheme

• Check drawings along with a checklist

• Submit drawings as per commitments

• Prepare HVAC duct routes and equipment layouts in Revit/BIM

• Detail duct routes, BOM preparation in Revit/BIM

• Prepare all HVAC drawings using Revit/BIM software

• Prepare BOQ/estimate/technical specification/approved make along with takeoff sheets

• Prepare tender drawings, specifications, BOM for floating tenders

• Evaluate technical tenders and rate/recommend vendors

• Conduct quality checks and inspections at different stages of construction

• Obtain LEED/IGBC certification for the building

• Review shop drawings and technical data sheets

• Maintain documentation of all design materials and drawings

• Hand over inspection as per requirements

• Use specialized software to create design and drawings of products

• Prepare equipment manuals/maintenance booklets for site teams

• Develop As-Built drawings with the in-house team

Construction Administration:

• Evaluate test reports and oversee the construction of HVAC systems for all projects

• Review equipment and material submittals

• Assist and resolve HVAC issues during/after construction

• Complete construction visits and address issues related to HVAC systems

Compliance:

• Comply with all relevant standards and procedures

• Ensure compliance with project timelines

Communication & Collaboration:

• Communicate and coordinate with teams and departments to aid in architectural and engineering design

• Engage with other teams during the design and construction period

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years of experience OR

Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 7+ years of experience

• Working knowledge of Revit
