About the Role

The Manager - Data Center position provides technical vision and leadership to our Sales and technical teams. As a seasoned professional with 10+ years of hands-on experience in data center practices, you will advise teams on technical issues and their business implications using your expertise in AHEAD's core technology competencies. You will drive the delivery of client-focused, high-quality projects by offering development, technical pre-sales guidance, internal IP, and Service Delivery Framework development. This role also involves assisting practice leadership in identifying industry trends and future areas of growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of 5-15 engineers and senior engineers to deliver exceptional results.
  • Develop individualized career development plans for team members.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop direct reports, including new employee on-boarding.
  • Lead employees to meet organizational expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment.
  • Provide effective performance feedback through recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action.
  • Actively manage bench time to support progress toward utilization targets, individual development goals, and solution development goals.
  • Understand sales pipeline and team capacity and capabilities, working with practice leadership to adjust staffing plans as needed.
  • Maintain skills and certification inventory of the team.
  • Create a workplace culture that supports our values and guiding principles.
  • Foster a culture of delivering with quality and care.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience around data center practices.
  • Broad base of technical skills, business acumen, and strong desire to support clients.
  • Experience managing, mentoring, and coaching people.
  • Ability to think past products and create solutions to meet business/IT needs.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex ideas to clients, third parties, and teams.
  • Interpersonal skills, problem-solving ability, big picture mentality, and aptitude to visualize solutions.
  • Able to foster teamwork among delivery teams.
  • Proficiency in hardware, software, and/or operating systems environments.
  • Ability to manage a team environment.
