Principal Engineer-Drainage

Job Description:

The role of Senior Drainage Engineer offers excellent opportunities for a candidate seeking to progress their career and looking for experience, training, and support with their development and future career progression.

The successful candidate will have experience in leading the development and delivery of drainage projects through various stages of the design process, from feasibility to planning/detailed design and onto construction.

The candidate will be required to lead the preparation of designs and specifications under the supervision of more senior staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of designs in accordance with standards and protocols
  • Technical checking and design reviews
  • Training and mentoring of more junior staff
  • Lead and attend design review meetings and progress meetings with Clients
  • Prepare fee estimates, staff utilisation forecasts, and defining project scopes
  • Managing a small team along with other line management responsibilities
  • It is most desirable if the candidate has experience of AutoCAD Civil 3D and Causeway Flow/Infodrainage.
  • Working closely with Team Lead to set out developmental goals for the team
  • Engage and work with the Lead region. Ability to secure Projects and improve the Team utilisation.
  • Helping Team Lead in resource allocation on Projects

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Mandatory Skills

A minimum of 8 years' experience within a consultancy environment

Proven track record of dealing with clients and forging effective relationships in a professional and customer-focused manner.

Mentoring and guiding junior staff

Good written and verbal communication skills

Experience of working to UK standards

Adept in the use of AutoCAD, Microstation & Civil3D

Proficient in the use of standard MS Office software and Causeway Flow/MicroDrainage

Chartered Engineer or working towards becoming a Chartered Engineer within 1-2 years.

Qualifications

Degree qualified in Civil Engineering/Environmental/Water Resources Engineering

Causeway Flow, Drainage, Civil 3D, Project Engineering Management, Infodrainage
