Senior Technical IT Director

We are seeking an experienced IT Director to lead our Imaging Technology and Clinical Research Organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all hardware and software deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, and support based on innovation and IT infrastructure strategy.

About the Role

The IT Director will develop configuration and monitoring standards for network performance and implement controls to maintain those standards. They will evaluate business needs, objectives, and goals, researching innovation and IT applications necessary to meet IE Network needs.

The IT Director will analyze complex business needs presented by users and customers and recommend technical solutions. They will develop plans for implementing new projects, coordinating process deliverables with project leaders and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

1. Authorize and oversee all hardware and software deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, and support based on innovation and IT infrastructure strategy.
2. Develop configuration and monitoring standards for network performance and implement controls to maintain those standards.
3. Evaluate business needs, objectives, and goals, researching innovation and IT applications necessary to meet IE Network needs.
4. Analyze complex business needs presented by users and customers and recommend technical solutions.
5. Develop plans for implementing new projects, coordinating process deliverables with project leaders and stakeholders.
6. Develop or assist in developing IT policies and procedures, including architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
7. Implement, comply with, and maintain IT policies and procedures.
8. Design, configure, and optimize hardware, operating systems, networks, storage, and backup devices for reliability, availability, and performance in physical or virtual environments.
9. Design, configure, and manage Active Directory and Citrix.
10. Configure and supervise implementation of management tools, including monitoring, security, and backup tools.
11. Configure and supervise implementation of network solutions, including firewall configuration, routing, IPsec tunnels, remote access VPN access, etc.
12. Diagnose and resolve issues related to application delivery via Citrix and AWS.
13. Coach and direct IT staff in operational activities to ensure compliance with company needs, objectives, and approved budget.
14. Manage IT staff, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
15. Maintain awareness of changing innovation and IT trends, best practices, and regulations impacting operational efficiency and business continuity.
16. Participate in hardware and software evaluations along with vendor contracts.
17. Make purchasing recommendations and monitor contracted service(s) performance.
18. Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analysis for IT budgeting.
19. Develop an IT annual budget, justifying when needed, reviewing and comparing actual results to planned budgetary performance.
20. Direct management on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of IT's new initiatives, opportunities, and procurement efforts.
21. Ensure network staff/resources use technology to provide secure processes to access information.
22. Oversee end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
23. Perform liaison duties between network users, operations in areas of systems design, modifications, or troubleshooting.
24. Possess and communicate clear vision for IT with all IE stakeholders.
25. Perform other duties as assigned.
26. Lead and coordinate work related to incident tickets and requests for resolution within agreed SLAs.
27. Train first-level support personnel to close any open incidents correctly and promptly.
28. Manage calendar related to recurrent IT activities.
29. Work with other IT teams and third-party support vendors for problem resolution.
30. Manage execution of IT study archival requests, exports, and other activities.
31. Ensure team performs work in compliance with policies and SOPs.
32. Provide second-level escalation and after-hours support.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelor's degree in IT, CIS, Computer Science, or similar field strongly preferred.
• PACS/Clinical imaging experience preferred.
• 12-15 years of experience managing and directing enterprise IT operations.
• Enterprise, networking, virtualization, or security certifications preferred.
• Minimum of three years of HIPAA and/or GDPR experience.
• Familiarity with design, installation, validation, and compliant operation of complex clinical imaging data software and hardware systems.
• Demonstrate proficiency in all MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet software.
• Ability to provide quality control review to working documents and reports regarding technical, scientific, or research implications.
• Demonstrated proficiency in maintaining desktop information technology systems and supporting network operations in regulated environments.
• At least three years of ITIL experience and managing IT as a service; certification a plus.
• At least five years of experience managing cloud, PAAS, or SAAS environments directly and/or through Managed Service Providers.
