Software Security Engineer

Canonical seeks a skilled software security engineer to join our Security Hardening team. The successful candidate will have experience in low-level Linux cryptography APIs, C development, and Linux system administration.

As a key member of the team, you will work on enhancing the security foundation of Ubuntu and collaborating with external partners to develop security hardening benchmarks and audit + remediation automation for Ubuntu.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Extending and enhancing Linux cryptographic components with the features and functionality required for FIPS and CC certification
  • Collaborating with external security consultants to test and validate kernel and crypto module components
  • Working with external partners to develop security hardening benchmarks and audit + remediation automation for Ubuntu
  • Contribution to Ubuntu mainline and upstream projects to land solutions and benefit the community

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with low-level Linux cryptography APIs and debugging, excellent software engineering fundamentals, including prior experience with C development, and demonstrated knowledge of security and cryptography fundamentals.
