Linux Software Repository Specialist

Nakshatra Systems is seeking a dedicated Linux software repository expert to guarantee the integrity of our software repository through updates, upgrades, and patches.

This is not a system administrator role; instead, we need an individual with expertise in managing software repositories. We prioritize candidates with experience in Slackware Linux, but knowledge of other Linux distributions, such as Redhat and Debian, is also valuable.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in Bash scripting, C, and Python. They should have hands-on experience with compiling and creating software from source code, including knowledge of GCC and its flags. Familiarity with build system tools like Autotools, Meson, Ninja, CMake, Make, pkg-config, and SCons is essential.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Keeping track of software dependencies
  • Patching and creating software patches
  • Understanding and creating Makefiles as necessary
  • Maintaining changelogs
  • Providing bug fixes
  • Debugging with GDB if needed
  • Reviewing changes
  • Connecting with upstream developers for solutions when necessary

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English
  • Ability to work independently
  • Meet deadlines for assigned tasks
