Database Engineer Position

Job Summary

We seek a skilled and experienced Database Engineer to oversee the design, development, and maintenance of our financial trading and analysis platforms' core infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating high-performance, scalable database systems that handle large volumes of financial market data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Database Design and Development
    • Design and implement database schemas for storing and retrieving time-series financial data.
    • Develop and optimize ETL processes for ingesting real-time data from various market sources.
    • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across all databases.
  • API Creation and Integration
    • Write robust and efficient APIs to provide programmatic access to historical and real-time market data.
    • Implement data retrieval services with high throughput and low-latency queries.
  • Performance and Scalability
    • Architect and manage database solutions capable of handling high write and read loads.
    • Implement performance tuning techniques, including indexing, query optimization, and caching strategies.
  • System Maintenance and Monitoring
    • Monitor database performance, conduct regular health checks, and troubleshoot issues in a high-pressure environment.
    • Implement backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Database Engineer, Data Engineer, or similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with both relational and non-relational databases.
  • Solid programming skills in Python, Java, or C++.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and related database services.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka.
  • Knowledge of financial markets and the unique challenges of handling market data.
