Database Expertise Wanted

We are seeking a seasoned professional to take charge of our database infrastructure. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable data architectures that meet the needs of our growing business.

  • Database Administration & Operations:
  • Maintain and monitor production databases, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Tune databases for optimal performance and resolve any issues that may arise.

AWS Cloud Expertise:

  • Administer RDS, Aurora, and EC2-hosted database instances.
  • Monitor database performance using CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and third-party tools.

Data Architecture & Design:

  • Work with engineering teams to model new schemas, optimize indexes, and review queries.
  • Implement best practices in database normalization, partitioning, and data lifecycle management.

Security & Compliance:

  • Ensure data encryption, access controls, and audit logging are in place and compliant with company policies.
  • Support GDPR/SOC 2/ISO 27001 initiatives with appropriate database controls and evidence collection.

Collaboration & Mentoring:

  • Provide guidance to developers and DevOps teams during code reviews and deployments.
  • Share knowledge, mentor junior DBAs, and improve documentation and internal tooling.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of DBA experience, including at least:
  • 5+ years with MSSQL Server (SQL Agent, SSIS, performance tuning)
  • 5+ years with PostgreSQL (query optimization, extensions, logical replication)
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS database services: RDS, Aurora, S3, and IAM integration
  • Solid understanding of SQL query optimization, execution plans, and troubleshooting slow queries
  • Proven track record of managing production-grade environments with strict uptime SLAs
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and automation using tools like Terraform or Ansible
