Job Overview:

The role of a senior data engineer involves designing, building and optimizing scalable data pipelines and lakehouse architectures on Microsoft Azure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse Analytics to enhance business performance.
  • Build and optimize lakehouse architectures on Azure using Delta Lake to improve data efficiency.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide thought leadership to translate them into technical scripts.
  • Implement data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration workflows from diverse sources to ensure seamless data flow.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and security across the data lifecycle by applying robust data governance strategies.
  • Leverage Azure services such as Data Lake Storage Gen2, Event Hubs, Azure Functions, and Key Vault to enhance data management capabilities.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or Bicep for automated provisioning and configuration to reduce human error.
  • Optimize cloud resource usage for performance and cost-efficiency by monitoring and analyzing data consumption patterns.
  • Design and implement star schema and other data modeling techniques to support analytical workloads and drive business decisions.
  • Collaborate with analysts and data scientists to deliver advanced analytics solutions that drive business growth.
  • Conduct data quality assessments and contribute to data governance initiatives to maintain data integrity.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Expert-level experience with Azure Data Services: Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake Storage to design and develop scalable data pipelines.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for complex transformations and performance tuning to ensure optimal data outcomes.
  • Advanced Python skills for data pipeline development and orchestration to streamline data workflows.
  • Experience with Terraform or similar IaC tools for Azure to automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices to ensure smooth software deployment and maintenance.
