Firewall Technical Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Firewall Technical Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our cybersecurity team, you will be responsible for providing operational support for firewalls on multiple platforms across our global infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide operational support for firewalls on multiple platforms
  • 24x7 firewall monitoring, operation and management
  • First responder to monitored alerts, incidents and issues
  • Service request fulfillment for firewall global policy and other security extension changes (VPN, IPS, URL Filtering, Application Control, etc.)
  • Perform firewall policy changes, analysis and clean-up as requested by firms
  • Provide visibility and insight to assist customers with firewall activity and usage information
  • Follow through with firm and vendor resources to close out availability, performance, and security incidents that involve firewalls in any location
  • Coordinate, triage, and troubleshot activities with customers
  • Accountable for executing tasks according to established standards, procedures, and processes
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need the following skills and qualifications:

  • Expert level knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls including advanced troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN and network protocols
  • Knowledge of Site to Site and Remote access tunnel
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools and commands to ensure quick resolution to issues
  • Advanced level skill in firewall policy management
  • Ability to manage support cases with external technology vendors
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Sensitivity and cultural awareness
  • Discipline and experience in recognizing and handling confidential and sensitive information
