About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Operational Risk Officer to provide companywide oversight and governance of an integrated operational risk program or initiative.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and driving innovative operational risk approaches and solutions companywide through an influence model.
  • Identifying potential business operational risks and developing strategies to mitigate them.
  • Constructively and independently challenging existing risk management fundamentals or assumptions and developing alternative approaches and solutions.
  • Evaluating long-term implications and consequences of strategic business decisions and recommending appropriate alternatives for risk management.
  • Leading the implementation of complex initiatives with high risk, generally spanning multiple business lines.
  • Consulting to the business on corrective action plans and effectively managing change.
  • Influencing and negotiating with executive management and business heads as high-level stakeholders both within and outside Wells Fargo.
  • Leading initiatives and virtual teams across the organization to deliver companywide business risk management transformations.
  • Collaborating and consulting with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals.
  • Leading project or virtual teams and mentoring less experienced staff.

Required qualifications include:

  • 7+ years of Operational Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.

Desired qualifications include:

  • University master's degree in business or related discipline.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner.

Job expectations include:

  • Handling all major governance and reporting deliverables, including submissions for control councils, regional risk committees, risk governance committees, India and Philippines board packs, regulatory submissions, and all internal risk reports.
  • Playing a key role in planning, structuring, and executing the Org structure, including preparing and driving changes to the Org chart.
  • Driving, monitoring, and governing Cost and budget.
  • Driving key projects for the team and supporting IP Governance Head for any IP-led specific projects.
  • Driving and supporting initiatives and bringing them to closure.
  • Initiating, creating, and driving Management risk Reviews internally and with Enterprise SM.
  • Staying close to the risk and know-how by building strong connections with the team.
  • Challenging inefficiencies in the operating model by articulating challenges and risks and supporting change.
  • Managing all central activities to support the team at large.
  • Managing space and location for the team.
  • Acting as a Business Execution advisor to leadership to drive performance and initiatives and develop and implement information delivery or presentations to key stakeholders and senior management.
  • Leading the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges related to Business Execution that require solid analytical skills, extensive knowledge of Business Execution, and understanding of business, delivering longer-term and large-scale solutions.
  • Providing vision, direction, and expertise to senior leadership for implementing innovative and significant business solutions that are large-scale and cross-organizational.
  • Leading team meetings or steering committee, capturing the MoMs and actions accurately and qualitatively well-articulated to facilitate decision-making and support implementation of recommendations and plans.
  • Strategically engaging with all levels of professionals and managers across multiple lines of businesses and serving as an experienced advisor to the leadership.
