Senior Associate - Indirect Tax Litigation

The primary responsibility of this role is to handle tax matters related to preparation of submissions, replies to notices, and appeals.

  • Prepare and submit responses to tax authorities, including representation during appeals.
  • Assist clients in responding to departmental enquiries, investigations, and audits.
  • Prepare reply to show cause notice/audit replies.
  • Meet with tax officers for hearings as required.
  • Prepare and file tax appeals at the Joint Commissioner (Appeals) and Court levels.
  • Assist seniors in representing clients before various judicial forums.
  • Conduct comprehensive research on various topics.
Client Service Delivery/Execution:
  • Identify and discuss technical issues with clients while considering firm risk factors.
  • Execute work on multiple client bases, assuming near-independent responsibility for smaller clients.
  • Develop rapport with middle layers of client management.
Commercial Acumen Development:
  • Stay updated on firm-wide and competitor activities, as well as general business trends.
  • Apply knowledge to deliver solutions to clients.
Networking & Opportunity Identification:
  • Identify new opportunities for existing clients and communicate with senior team members.
  • Network internally to gain understanding of issues impacting clients.
Knowledge Base Development:
  • Stay abreast of latest developments in tax laws and other relevant areas.
  • Contribute to firm's knowledge management activities.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills.
  • Strong analytical and researching abilities.
  • Proactive, reliable, and detail-oriented.
Experience and Education:
  • Law graduate from a reputable law school with a strong academic record.
  • 1-3 years of post-qualification experience in indirect tax would be preferred.
