Job Title: IP Strategist

A seasoned professional with 18+ years of experience in Intellectual Property (IP) is required to drive culture and protect technology/NPD through IP.

Purpose of the Role:
  1. Review NPD designs for potential areas of IP legal risk, plan IP checks, and implement risk mitigation strategies to strengthen the culture of technology/NPD through IP.
  2. Develop search strategies and conduct search analyses for Freedom to Operate (FTO), State of Art (SOA), invalidation, opposition, and litigation.
  3. Perform advanced technology and analysis, including competitive intelligence analysis, design IP protection of transportation design and engineering across business clusters.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Drive IP culture by reviewing designs for IP and initiating actions to de-risk designs/products.
  2. Perform advanced patent/competitor portfolio analysis for patent literature and non-patent literature, leveraging tools like IT and data analytics for effective search and analysis of IP.
  3. Work closely with IP attorneys, legal associates, and close IP FTO opinion reports in a timely manner.
  4. Plan and conduct Bill of Materials (BOM) FTO reviews for NPD at the product level across automotive technology domains, implementing best-in-class practices, standardizing processes, and enhancing productivity through digitalization.
  5. Release periodic IP alerts, review and dispose concerns from stakeholders, effectively build conviction with stakeholders, and manage projects/business clusters independently.
  6. Plan, conduct FTO/state-of-art search analysis on Limited Rights to Practice (LRP)/advanced technology and trigger timely protection of all forms of IP across major global jurisdictions.
  7. Be well-versed with industry best practices, state-of-art tools for IP searches, and perform searches across multiple jurisdictions.
  8. Review and resolve claim interpretation issues in FTO with stakeholders, liaise with legal teams for effective disposal, maintain confidentiality of IP matters, systematically docket records, and establish a best-in-class IP culture.
