Instrumentation Controls Specialist

Job Description:

  • Provide expertise in instrumentation and controls to support site projects.
  • Deliver, review, and approve technical deliverables in service of site projects, across all phases of project execution.
  • Support the Site Projects Team and Engineering Contractor(s) to deliver IC engineering scopes, including:
  • Providing technical oversight, review, guidance, and approval of design engineering and construction contractor deliverables.
  • Equipment specification and selection as well as engineering package technical content.
  • Leading, contributing, and coordinating project Functional Safety work scopes to ensure that facility lifecycle plans are maintained and updated.
  • Reviewing technical bid analysis of equipment.
  • Providing technical evaluations of requests for exceptions/deviations to specifications or standards.
  • Ensuring automation system digital security (ASDS) requirements are embedded in project control and automation deliverables and cyber security risks and barriers are managed proactively.
  • Providing technical input and oversight to automation contractor performance and delivery, including delivering technical requirements underpinning agreements with Main Automation Contractors (MACs) and Main Instrument Contractors (MICs).
  • Determining risks to project delivery and ensuring adequate risk mitigation plans are in place.
  • Working with engineering contractor(s) to verify they are performing required activities in line with project schedules, and assisting bp's Engineering Manager in contract performance management.
  • Ensuring that engineering contractor(s) apply bp's Engineering Practices in engineering designs.
  • Determining risks to project delivery and ensuring adequate risk mitigation plans are in place.
  • Providing IC expertise to project Management of Change (MoC) processes.
  • Assuring quality and consistency in IC equipment delivery on projects.
  • Reviewing Vendor Inspection and Test Plans, documents, and drawings.
