Job Opportunity

We are seeking a seasoned database professional to lead our database infrastructure team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with application teams to develop and implement solutions that integrate seamlessly with our database systems.
  • Develop and enforce best practices for supported datastores, focusing on MySQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Design and implement robust database security, backup, and recovery procedures.
  • Monitor and optimize relevant database metrics to ensure we meet our objectives.
  • Provide expert guidance to engineering teams through reviews of database migrations, queries, and performance optimizations.
  • Work closely with peers to roll out changes to our production environment and mitigate database-related incidents.
  • Develop automation scripts to streamline database infrastructure and provide self-service tools to engineering teams.
  • Participate in on-call support rotations with the team.
  • Identify and resolve complex database production issues across services and levels of the stack.
  • Document all actions to create repeatable processes and automate tasks.
  • Conduct regular system monitoring, troubleshooting, and capacity planning to ensure scalability.
Requirements:
  • At least 4-8 years of experience managing MySQL/PostgreSQL databases in large environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, including AWS and GCP.
  • In-depth knowledge of MySQL/PostgreSQL internals.
  • Understanding of load balancing solutions, such as ProxySQL, to distribute traffic efficiently across multiple servers.
  • Knowledge of tools and methods for monitoring database performance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work within cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-Haves:
  • Experience with caching technologies, including Redis and Elasticache.
  • Scripting language proficiency, including Python.
  • Infrastructure automation tool expertise, including Terraform and Ansible.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
