
Wireless Engineer

A wireless engineer plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of outdoor fixed wireless networks, which provide broadband connectivity to customers. This position requires strong technical skills and knowledge of RF fundamentals, frequency capability, channel bandwidth, modulation schemes, transmission methods, and microwave propagation.
- Fixed Wireless Access: Strong understanding of licensed and unlicensed PMP/PTP systems, including link budget planning, site surveys, selecting equipment, and configuring wireless network devices.
- Network Design and Configuration: Ability to design and configure outdoor fixed wireless networks that meet customer business requirements and industry best practices, including signal interference mitigation, device connectivity, and network performance optimization.
- Security: Knowledgeable in wireless security protocols and best practices, including authentication, encryption, and access control measures.
- Troubleshooting: Able to identify and resolve network issues, including signal degradation, device connectivity problems, and network performance degradation.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain complex technical issues and solutions to non-technical customers.
Secondary Skills:
- Networking Expertise: Strong technical skills and knowledge of L2/L3 switching and routing systems and technologies, including understanding of TCP windowing/handshake, UDP, VoIP/SIP, and other packet protocols.
- Technical Documentation: Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, such as network diagrams, configuration files, and network topology maps.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to analyze data, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Collaboration Skills: Strong collaboration skills to work with internal and external teams.
Requirements:
Minimum 3-8 years of experience in outdoor fixed wireless technologies, including licensed and unlicensed PMP/PTP systems, 4G/5G RAN, and related telecom technologies.
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, along with relevant industry certifications, such as 4G/5G RAN, CCNP (routing and switching), and CWNE preferred.
