DMSII Database Administrator Role

We are seeking an experienced DMSII database administrator to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration and a proven track record of managing complex database environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and administer DMSII databases.
  • Monitor database performance, space utilization, and availability on Unisys mainframes.
  • Manage sets, subsets, and indexes to ensure efficient data access.
  • Handle database backups, journals, and roll-forward recovery procedures.
  • Support schema changes and perform database reorganizations as required.
  • Assist in capacity planning and ensure data integrity across environments.
  • Work closely with application and system teams to troubleshoot performance or access issues.
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing and ensure compliance with backup policies.
  • Implement and maintain security, audit trails, and user access controls.
  • Document DBA processes, configuration, and recovery procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of Unisys DMSII database administration principles.
  • Experience with DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools.
  • Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery.
  • Hands-on experience with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration.
  • Familiarity with batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or Unisys Mainframe DBA.
