Oracle Database Administrator Position

About this role:

We seek an experienced Senior Oracle DBA to lead the administration, optimization, and security of our Oracle database landscape. This includes mission-critical systems supporting enterprise applications like SAP. The ideal candidate will have deep Oracle expertise, along with exposure to SAP Basis-related database administration to support SAP environments running on Oracle.

The successful candidate will be responsible for administering, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting multiple Oracle databases in production, development, and QA environments. They will perform installations, upgrades, patching, and migrations. Additionally, they will optimize database performance using AWR, ASH, OEM, and advanced tuning techniques.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Database Administration: Administer, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot multiple Oracle databases (11g, 12c, 19c, 21c) in production, development, and QA environments.
  • Installation and Upgrades: Perform installations, upgrades, patching, and migrations (including platform and cross-version migrations).
  • Performance Optimization: Optimize database performance using AWR, ASH, OEM, and advanced tuning techniques.
  • High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Manage high availability and disaster recovery configurations using Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and GoldenGate.
  • Backup and Recovery: Implement and test robust backup/recovery strategies using RMAN and/or third-party tools.
  • Automation and Reporting: Automate administrative tasks and reporting using shell scripting, PL/SQL, or Python.
  • SAP Support: Collaborate with SAP Basis team to support SAP systems using Oracle, including performance tuning and backup coordination.
  • Compliance and Security: Ensure database compliance with security, audit, and regulatory standards (SOX, ISO, etc.).
  • Capacity Planning and Infrastructure Scaling: Participate in capacity planning, infrastructure scaling, and cloud database strategy (OCI, AWS RDS, etc.).
  • Leadership and Support: Lead database initiatives such as cloud adoption, consolidation, and disaster recovery planning. Provide 24x7 support for critical systems and assist in root cause analysis for database-related incidents.

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Deep knowledge of Oracle database management and administration.
  • Experience with SAP Basis-related database administration.
  • Strong understanding of database performance optimization and tuning.
  • Proficiency in Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and GoldenGate.
  • Familiarity with automation tools like shell scripting, PL/SQL, or Python.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
