Steel Design Specialist Opportunity

Fusie Engineers is a fast-growing engineering startup that requires skilled professionals to join our team as steel design specialists.

The Role: Steel Design Specialist

  • Derive load paths, equilibrium, buckling & fatigue checks by hand before using software for structural analysis.
  • Analyse and validate steel structures in ANSYS, Dlubal RFEM, and other tools for accurate designs.
  • Collaborate with detailers and CAD technicians to convert calculations into buildable drawings for construction projects.
  • Work on various sectors with a focus on offshore and marine projects requiring specialized steelwork expertise.
  • Optimise designs by examining critical results, safety factors, and fabrication constraints for efficiency and quality.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of models, hand calculations, reports, and fabrication packages for adherence to industry standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience designing steelwork with demonstrated proficiency in hand calculations and software tools.
  • Knowledge of steel grades, weld symbols, fabrication methods, and erection techniques for successful project execution.
  • Ability to read and mark up 3D CAD and fabrication drawings accurately and efficiently.
  • Self-motivated individual who balances rigor with deadlines and supports the wider team when needed.
