Design Engineer – Steel and Metal Furniture

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our design department, you will be responsible for creating innovative steel and metal furniture designs that meet both aesthetic and functional requirements.

  • Develop novel steel furniture products such as tables, chairs, shelves, and storage units
  • Utilize software like AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure designs are practical and feasible for production
  • Conduct structural analysis of steel furniture to guarantee durability and stability
  • Choose materials and finishes based on considerations of aesthetics, functionality, and cost
  • Research trends in furniture design and material innovation
  • Develop prototypes for testing and modify designs based on feedback
  • Coordinate with suppliers for sourcing materials and components
  • Evaluate designs against safety standards, environmental regulations, and company specifications
  • Assist in developing cost estimates for production, assembly, and materials
  • Work with the marketing team to understand customer needs and incorporate feedback into designs
  • Prepare technical documentation and design presentations for stakeholders
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Design Engineer in the steel furniture industry
  • Strong knowledge of material properties
  • Proficiency in CAD software
  • Excellent communication skills
