Job Description

As a highly skilled WordPress developer, you will be responsible for building and maintaining advanced WordPress solutions. This includes working inside our custom WordPress engine (themes, plugins, internal tools), building and maintaining advanced Gutenberg blocks using hooks, APIs, and custom theme logic, optimizing database queries and code execution through profiling, debugging, and performance monitoring, integrating with REST APIs and supporting complex integrations/microservices, and collaborating with front-end developers to connect blocks/themes while owning the backend architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop high-quality WordPress themes, plugins, and internal tools.
  • Develop and maintain advanced Gutenberg blocks using hooks, APIs, and custom theme logic.
  • Optimize database queries and code execution to ensure optimal performance.
  • Integrate with REST APIs and support complex integrations/microservices.
  • Collaborate with front-end developers to connect blocks/themes while owning the backend architecture.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you must have:

  • Deep expertise in PHP and the WordPress ecosystem (hooks, APIs, plugins, themes, Gutenberg).
  • Strong SQL skills and proven experience optimizing queries for performance.
  • Solid understanding of REST APIs and microservice integration patterns.
  • React experience for Gutenberg block development.
  • Comfortable with Docker/Podman workflows and Linux environments (WP-CLI, file manipulation, container ops).
  • A performance-minded developer: profiling, measuring, and optimizing code execution.
  • MacOS or Linux development environment (mandatory).
  • Good command of HTML, CSS (SCSS), and JavaScript (ES6).
  • Experience working closely with designers and front-end developers.
  • Awareness of accessibility and Core Web Vitals best practices.
