Lead a high-performance team of geologists to drive business growth through strategic mine planning and operational excellence. Drive mining operations forward by ensuring geological data quality, accuracy and timeliness.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Mine Planning: Develop comprehensive mine plans that align with business objectives and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Geological Modelling: Utilize industry-leading software (Minex) for geological modelling to optimize mine production and reduce costs.
  • Quality Control: Oversee coal quality control processes to ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations.
  • Exploration and Drilling: Coordinate exploration and infill drilling activities to prepare annual mine production plans.
  • Sampling Activities: Monitor sampling activities at the mine site, coal stockyard, dispatch points, and other locations as required.
  • Data Management: Ensure accurate and timely data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform business decisions.
  • Talent Development: Foster a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and continuous learning among team members.
  • Business Partnering: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business growth through strategic partnerships and alliances.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A minimum of 10 years of practical experience in coal mine operations, preferably in a senior geological role.
  • An advanced degree in Geology or a related field from a reputable institution.
  • Proven expertise in coal quality handling, BIS process standards, and Auto CAD, Minex Geological Modelling, and 3-D Civil software applications.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a track record of driving team performance and achieving business objectives.
