Application Packaging Specialist

The role of Application Packaging Specialist is a key position in our organization's application delivery process.

Responsibilities include:

  • Repackaging applications into MSI, MST, or App-V formats to ensure compatibility and reliability.
  • Creating and maintaining application packages using PowerShell scripting and PSADT tool for efficient deployment.
  • Testing and validating application packages in controlled environments to ensure quality and stability.
  • Documenting packaging steps, testing results, and installation guidelines to support knowledge sharing and best practices.
  • Coordinating with stakeholders to gather requirements and resolve packaging-related issues during the deployment phase.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) include:

  • Package delivery timeframes and bug ratio to measure efficiency and quality.

Qualification Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field to demonstrate foundational knowledge.

Essential Skills and Competencies include:

  • Strong expertise in Windows OS and Windows Installer technology to ensure seamless package deployment.
  • Extensive experience in packaging tools such as Admin Studio, Installshield, Orca, and troubleshooting tools like PicTaker, Beyond Compare, ACT, etc., to handle complex package configurations.
  • Ability to analyze dependencies, DLLs, registry, and custom actions to identify and resolve potential issues.
  • Expertise in PowerShell scripting and PSADT to create efficient and reliable package deployments.
  • Understanding of SCCM/Intune for deployment to ensure smooth integration and execution.

Desirable Skills and Competencies include:

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and document best practices.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work in a structured IT environment.
