Lead Credit Specialist

About the Role:

This is a key leadership position responsible for guiding the credit risk, underwriting, and portfolio management functions to achieve strategic objectives.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive credit policies, frameworks, and processes to support SME/MSME lending and supply chain financing initiatives.
  • Direct the credit appraisal and underwriting function, including borrower risk assessment, financial due diligence, and creditworthiness evaluation.
  • Oversee portfolio quality, delinquency management, and design early warning systems to mitigate potential risks.
  • Collaborate closely with business, risk, and operations teams to balance growth aspirations with prudent credit practices.
  • Present credit proposals and portfolio performance updates to senior stakeholders and regulatory bodies as necessary.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing credit team capable of handling complex tasks.

Requirements:

  • 8–15 years of experience in credit risk/underwriting, preferably with strong SME/MSME exposure.
  • In-depth understanding of supply chain finance, bill discounting, invoice financing, and related credit products.
  • Proven ability to build credit frameworks from scratch and manage large loan books effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory norms, compliance requirements, and industry guidelines.
  • Exceptional leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • CA/MBA/FRM or equivalent qualification preferred.
