Job Title: Animal Care Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Animal Care Manager to oversee the daily operations at our animal shelter. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of animals, managing shelter staff, and providing pet care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations at the shelter, ensuring the well-being of animals and managing shelter staff
  • Staff Supervision and Training: Lead and train shelter staff and volunteers/interns in animal care, shelter policies, and safety procedures
  • Animal Care Management: Ensure proper feeding, grooming, and medical care for all animals
  • Facility Maintenance: Maintain shelter facilities, including kennels and common areas, adhering to regular hygiene standards
  • Adoption management: Manage adoption processes
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of animal intake, health status, and adoption outcomes
  • Public Relations and Community Outreach: Engage with the community to promote shelter services, educate the public on animal welfare, and coordinate adoption events
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to local and state Government regulations related to animal care and shelter operations
Requirements
  • Strong empathy and compassion towards animals (non-negotiable)
  • Animal Care, Animal Health, and Pet Care skills
  • Experience in Animal Work
  • Laboratory Skills related to animal care
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or a related field preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience in animal care is a plus
  • Physical requirements may include lifting heavy animals and equipment, and working in various environmental conditions
