Banquet Operations Manager Job Summary

As a Banquet Operations Manager at Marriott International, you will be responsible for directing and motivating a team of banquet professionals while providing exceptional service to our guests. You will oversee all aspects of banquet operations, including financial and administrative responsibilities, to ensure seamless execution of events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Directs and motivates banquet team to provide high-quality service
  • Monitors and controls financial and administrative responsibilities
  • Provides clear and concise communication to all staff servicing events
  • Identifies training opportunities and plans strategies to accomplish goals

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years experience in event management, food and beverage, or related field

Core Work Activities

  • Projects supply needs for the department
  • Applies knowledge of laws related to events
  • Manages banquets to maximize customer satisfaction
  • Adheres to and reinforces all standards, policies, and procedures
  • Maintains established sanitation levels
  • Manages departmental inventories and equipment
  • Uses banquet beverage records to control liquor costs
  • Schedules banquet service staff to maximize profits
  • Assists team in developing lasting relationships with groups

Participating in and Leading Banquet Teams

  • Sets goals and delegates tasks to improve departmental performance
  • Conducts monthly department meetings
  • Applies and broadens knowledge of food and wine pairings
  • Acts as liaison to kitchen staff
  • Leads shifts and participates in servicing events

Ensuring and Providing Exceptional Customer Service

  • Sets a positive example for guest relations
  • Interacts with guests to obtain feedback
  • Responds to and handles guest problems and complaints
  • Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service
  • Ensures employees understand expectations and parameters
  • Strives to improve service performance
  • Emphasizes guest satisfaction during meetings
  • Reviews comment cards and guest satisfaction results

Conducting Human Resources Activities

  • Communicates and executes departmental and property emergency procedures
  • Observes service behaviors of employees and provides feedback
  • Monitors progress and leads discussion with staff
  • Participates in development and implementation of corrective action plans
  • Reviews quarterly Meeting Planner Survey results
  • Attends and participates in pertinent meetings
