Commis Role

We are seeking a skilled Commis to join our culinary team. The Commis role is a critical part of the kitchen, responsible for preparing and cooking dishes with authenticity and consistency.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare and cook assigned cuisine dishes with attention to detail and consistency.
  2. Manage mise-en-place and daily food preparation efficiently.
  3. Ensure portion control, plating standards, and hygiene compliance throughout the service period.
  4. Train and supervise junior staff in techniques, recipes, and kitchen safety procedures.
  5. Monitor inventory levels and assist in requisitions as needed.
  6. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to kitchen hygiene and SOPs.
Career Progression:Commis I:
  • Assist in preparing ingredients, basic sauces, and garnishes under guidance.
  • Cook standard menu items under supervision.
  • Ensure mise-en-place is ready for service, maintaining high standards.
  • Adhere to kitchen hygiene and follow SOPs, reporting any issues to seniors.
  • Develop knowledge of assigned cuisine and contribute to team success.
Commis II:
  • Wash, peel, chop, and store ingredients efficiently.
  • Assist with mise-en-place and stock rotation, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Follow instructions to learn basic cooking methods and develop skills.
  • Maintain kitchen hygiene, supporting dishwashing tasks if required.
  • Progress in developing knowledge of assigned cuisine, contributing to team expertise.
