Design Lead (Vacuum Engineering)

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Leader with extensive experience in vacuum furnace engineering.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of innovative solutions for vacuum furnaces and equipment.

  • Advocate technical solutions and execution methods in response to sales offers and customer specifications
  • Sizing and costing of technical offers with the sales manager and pre-approving them
  • Monitor all projects on a weekly basis and ensure proper technical support is provided to assembly/service support teams and customers

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide engineering management and technical analysis of projects, including design, calculation, component specification, cost estimation, and technical service
  2. Participate as part of a multi-disciplinary team to make conceptual design and development for implementing innovative/upgraded solutions
  3. Interface with coworkers and customers as part of the design, development, implementation activities, and delivery cycle associated with equipment build
  4. Provide analytical problem-solving support to assembly factory/assembly lines and challenges associated with equipment fabrication/assembly/quality/tests, installation, and commissioning
  5. Compile the complete technical/design and administrative dossier/docs for all customer accounts
  6. Review engineering and design for future planning in line with company strategy plans

Qualifications & Technical Competencies:

  • Bachelor/Master of Engineering degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics/Design
  • Design and analysis of mechanical/electrical structures/low/high/ultra-high vacuum systems
  • High Pressure Vessel design/construction
  • High Temperature Hot Zone design/construction
  • Heating Elements/Heat-Shield or Insulation design and construction
  • Heat Exchanger design/construction
  • Hot-zone support structure/Hearth bar design/construction
  • Knowledge about Heat treatment, brazing, carburizing, hardening, annealing, melting, etc.
  • Knowledge and application of various types of materials, surface, and thermal treatments for low/high/ultra-high vacuum
  • Hands-on aptitude with an understanding of standard design practices and manufacturing techniques
  • Advanced skills in 2D & 3D CAD software - preferably AutoCAD and Inventor or Solid Works
  • 3D design for vacuum chambers and systems
  • Knowledge and application of numerical modeling in solid mechanics
  • Thermal exchange calculation/Computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
  • Finite Element Method (FEM) and Thermo-mechanical simulations analysis
  • Working knowledge of pneumatics, vacuum process systems, electrical components, and automation
